Art festival 2007 Vincent Killowry

Arts Festival

12th July 2007

Vincent Killowry

Over the past twenty years Vincent Killowry's reputation in fine art and design has steadily grown. He was winner of the An Post 2005 Stamp of the Year Competition with his Tall Ships which celebrated the commencement of the Tall Ships Race from Waterford in July 2005. These stunning stamps, designed by Vincent, received the largest number of votes from collectors.
As an artist who specialises in painting the great machines of land, sea and air he has always been intrigued by mankind's ability to harness the power of Mother Nature to travel great distances.
With a style all of his own one can see an influence from artists such as David Shepherd, Terrance Cuneo and Michael Turner who all have a background in aviation art among other themes.
When Vincent graduated in Galway in 1986 he was selected to exhibit at the Guinness Peat Aviation Awards for Emerging Artists in Dublin. G.P.A. subsequently purchased the majority of his paintings at his first one man exhibition in Limerick in 1987.
